Our History

Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) is a not-for-profit child care organization established in 1971 after a study by the Village of Mt. Kisco and the Interfaith Council of Mt. Kisco was conducted to support women who were entering the workforce and needed an affordable, safe, and quality option for child care. Through the years, access to quality child care and early education has been proven to have life-long impacts on improving academic outcomes, graduation rates and even health.  In that time, demands on families have continued to increase creating a greater need for quality, reliable child care.  The Center has become dedicated to supporting equitable access to all children. Having opened its doors with only 25 three- and four-year old children in rented classroom spaces, today MKCCC cares for over 145 children, ages three months to eleven years of age, in a beautiful, 20,000 square foot facility built with the generous support of many in the community.  In addition, the Center works to build awareness of the child care industry needs and advocates on behalf of working families to increase access for all.

Facilities

Our incredible, state-of-the-art, facility was designed specifically for our needs and built in 2002.  With over 20,000 square feet of living space, the Center features spaces for growth and learning opportunities for every child in a cozy setting with the warmth and security of home. In addition, our 7,500 square feet of outdoor play space features three age and developmentally appropriate playgrounds including two brand-new toddler and pre-school playgrounds as well as a dedicated play space for our infants. In addition, each playground area hosts classroom gardens that are fundamental anchors of our Feed Me Fresh seed-to-table nutrition education program.

Mission

Mount Kisco Child Care Center helps working families thrive by providing equitable access to high-quality child care and early education to a diverse group of children through innovative, developmentally appropriate programming and a holistic approach to supporting family needs.

Organization

MKCCC is a non-profit child care facility, licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC).  The MKCCC Board of Directors is responsible for decisions on matters of admission and tuition, budget and finance, fundraising, publicity, long range planning, personnel and scholarship assistance for families. The Board consists solely of volunteers, local community leaders, members, educators and professionals. The Board meets eleven times a year, including an Annual Meeting in January which is open to the public, interested parents, friends and donors.

Funding Sources

We rely on several sources of funding including: tuition, grants, county subsidies for eligible families, as well as community, corporate and individual contributions.  A continuous effort in fundraising is necessary to support our mission of providing equitable access to high-quality child care and early education.  Appeals and events are organized by the MKCCC board, staff, volunteers, and parents to contribute additional scholarship funds.  Scholarship support for the children is based on need and financial capability of each family.
