Mt. Kisco, NY – (December 4, 2017) – Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) announces the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors in 2017. The board now comprises 20 members in total.
Sarah Weissman Dirsa is an architect and an associate with KG+D Architects in Mt. Kisco. Prior to this she was the Global Chair of Social Responsibility for HOK, one of the world’s largest architectural and engineering firms. As an architect and public interest designer, Ms. Dirsa understands the importance of how children’s environments impact the ways in which they learn and how classrooms can serve as additional teachers. Her son recently completed the Pre-K program at MKCCC and she is excited to further her relationship with what she considers “an important community asset”.
Kathy Higgins, a registered nurse, has been working for the Children’s School for Early Development for the past 27 years. Children’s School is a branch of Arc Westchester. She works with families and their children, birth to 5 years, who have learning and developmental delays. Over the past 10 years, one of her responsibilities has been supervising an integrated preschool program at MKCCC.
Anthony Mamo Jr. is a local attorney, specializing in the representation of individuals and small businesses, many of those with limited means. He was introduced to MKCCC by a fellow board member and quickly saw where he could contribute his talents. Mr. Mamo’s wife is a social worker with the Children’s School for Early Development, which shares an onsite collaborative classroom with one of MKCCC’s preschool classes.
Keira Treanor is a former science teacher, having taught middle and high school science in both Elmsford and Mount Pleasant School Districts. Over the last few years, she has held positions on the Chappaqua PTA and has served on the Chappaqua School Foundation (CSF) Board. After touring MKCCC and seeing the many amazing aspects of it, including the JEWEL intergenerational program and the Feed Me Fresh curriculum, Ms. Treanor was eager to join the Board. Having already made an immediate contribution, she looks forward to the opportunity to work with the Center and continue her fundraising efforts.
