Notable Westchester Restaurants Provide Tastings to Guests

Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) held their Seventh Annual Feed Me Fresh: An Edible Evening honoring Marian & Larry Cross, Owners and Farmers at Amawalk Farm, and Leslie Lampert, Proprietor and Chef, Ladle of Love & Café of Love, for their continuous effort to bring healthy eating choices and educational opportunities to the Mount Kisco community. Mount Kisco, NY – (October 12, 2011) – Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) recently hosted its Seventh Annual Feed Me Fresh: An Edible Evening at Ivanna Farms, Bedford Hills, NY. The weather held out as guests enjoyed tastings from more than ten local restaurants.

Event honorees included Marian & Larry Cross, Owners and Farmers at Amawalk Farm, and Leslie Lampert, Proprietor and Chef, Ladle of Love & Café of Love, MKCCC recognizes the honorees for their continuous effort to bring healthy eating choices and educational opportunities to the Mount Kisco community.

The event featured tastings made with ingredients from local and regional farms prepared by a number of top Westchester Chefs. Participating restaurants included: Bellizzi, Crabtree’s Kittle House, FAB French American Bistro, MKCCC’s own “Feed Me Fresh” Kitchen, Flying Pig on Lexington, Johnny Gelato, La Tulipe Desserts, Ladle of Love/Café of Love, Little Kabab Station, Myong Gourmet, Quaker Hill Tavern, Restaurant North, TABLE Local Market and Village Social.

“Feed Me Fresh highlights the importance of bringing healthy choices to the lives of our growing children,” said Dottie Jordan, MKCCC Executive Director. “We are so thankful to all who made it to the event and to those who continually contribute to this unique program.”

The event, which was co-chaired by Mount Kisco resident Lauren Schwarzfeld and Golden’s Bridge resident Lauren Wysmuller, was filled with music, cocktails, farm market offerings and fabulous foods highlighting local eateries.

Feed Me Fresh is MKCCC’s garden-to-table, sustainable nutrition program designed to increase the level of appreciation for healthy foods and healthy choices for children at an early age. The event highlights the Center’s commitment to community-based programming by educating families about healthy choices, while simultaneously showcasing the work of local chefs, farmers and artisans.

Pictured: Amawalk Farms owners Marian and Larry Cross, of Katonah, were honored at Mount Kisco Child Care Center’s (MKCCC) Seventh Annual Feed Me Fresh: An Edible Evening. The couple has operated Amawalk Farms since 2005. Today the farm produces fruits and vegetables that are served at MKCCC and can also be purchased at several local establishments in Westchester.
