Mount Kisco Child Care Center to Celebrate Week of the Young Child™

Mount Kisco, NY – (April 5, 2012) – As part of the national Week of the Young Child™ (April 22- 28, 2012) celebrated across the country, Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) will recognize young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.

“All children deserve the highest quality education to help prepare them for life,” said Dottie Jordan, Executive Director, MKCCC. “We are excited to participate in a celebration of educating young children and the joy these children bring to the community.”

This year’s Week of the Young Child™ theme is Early Years Are Learning Years®. As part of the celebration, MKCCC will host a special Literacy Adventure on Friday, April 20 beginning at 6:30p.m. at the tea house at Leonard Park in Mount Kisco. Literacy Adventures bring together families and children to share books and stories to build a life-long love of reading. This month we will be reading the story Rainbow Fish by Mark Pfister. Light dinner will be served as toddlers and preschoolers are invited to participate in an art activity.

Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to the Northern Westchester County community. Week of the Young Child™ is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.

In addition to the Literacy Adventure, local businesses including Ladle of Love, Quaker Hill Tavern Table Local Market, and TASTE Gourmet, will support MKCCC’s celebrations, featuring recipes from the Center’s Feed Me Fresh comprehensive nutrition program. Mount Kisco Public Library will display MKCCC childrens’ artwork throughout April.

The Week of the Young Child,™ sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.

If you are interested in attending the Literacy Adventure, please RSVP to info@mkccc.org.
